The REFRESH presentation from RINA’s Improving Sustainability in the Manufacturing Sectors webinar is now available to download. 

By embracing sustainable practices, manufacturers have the potential to make a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. They can also see benefits which directly impact the growth of their business, such as improved efficiency, reduced costs and enhanced brand credibility. During a webinar on 26th September, REFRESH project coordinator RINA showcased six EU-funded projects which are developing innovative solutions to improve sustainability in the manufacturing sector. RINA’s Daniel Grisenti presented REFRESH (smart dismantling, sorting and REcycling of glass Fibre Reinforced composite from wind power Sector through Holistic approach), which supports the wind energy industry’s commitment to reducing environmental impacts throughout a wind turbine’s life cycle by developing solutions to enable improved recycling of composite materials derived from end-of-life turbine blades.

The five other projects presented were TOOL4LIFE (TOOLing materials, design, and process engineering, leading to improved sustainability and wider applications for the composites of tomorrow), ZEROWASTELIFE (Materials, 2D-3D flattening and Processing, to optimise the topology and create breakthrough zero-waste Composite structural solutions), MAREWIND (MAterials solutions for cost Reduction and Extended service life on WIND off-shore facilities), RARE2 (Human-centred Rapid Reconfiguration of Production and Value Chain in Fast Changing Scenarios), and EPHAESTUS (Heavy and Extractive industry wastes PHAsing out through ESG Tailings Upcycling Synergy).
